Description:
|
An Arizona geographer, caught in the crossfire between federal law enforcement and humanitarian activity, shares his story with Albion on Wednesday, September 25. The presentation takes place at 4:15 p.m. in Albion College's Bobbitt Visual Arts Center.
. Scott Warren, a geographer at Arizona State University, was arrested in January 2018 for involvement in humanitarian aid work in Arizona. Warren, who lives in what is described as the deadliest land crossing between the U.S. and Mexico, was charged with two counts of Human Smuggling and one count of Conspiracy to Harbor. In 2019, an Arizona trial resulted in a hung jury, and Warren now faces a federal trial, set to begin in November.
Warren's case has attracted national attention and more information can be found at https://www.washingtonpost.c om/nation/2019/06/12/scott- warren-year-sentence-hung- jury-aiding-migrants/
