Description: Historic Preservation Consultant to Speak at Albion District Library

ALBION, Aug. 20, 2019 – The Albion District Library kicks off its Historic Preservation Speakers Series on August 28th with a lecture on the role of preservation in community building and local identity. Preservation consultant Isaac Kremer will speak at 6:00 p.m. in the library’s Naomi Lane Meeting Room. The event is free and open to the public.
Mr. Kremer has successfully led Main Street revitalization programs in multiple communities throughout the United States. His work has been highlighted in numerous national conferences and articles by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, Appalachian Regional Commission, Citizens’ Institute on Rural Design, The Conservation Fund, the Environmental Protection Agency, International Downtown Association, National Main Street Center, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
From 2008-2012 as Executive Director of the Oyster Bay Main Street Association on Long Island he led the restoration of President Theodore Roosevelt’s home town. While there he organized one of the first Better Block projects in the United States. As Executive Director of Discover Downtown Middlesboro from 2012-2016, Kremer mobilized hundreds of volunteers to build trails, encourage entrepreneurship, and bring about incremental change through three more Better Block projects. Currently, as Executive Director of the Metuchen Downtown Alliance, he is leading a revitalization project with over $100 million of investment.
Area residents may be familiar with Mr. Kremer’s work creating the “Albion Interactive History” website, which he developed as a senior project while earning his undergraduate degree in Economics and Management from Albion College. Mr. Kremer also holds a master’s degree in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University.
