Description:
|
The relationship minefield between siblings, as well as African-Americans and white society, are central to the prizewinning “Topdog/Underdog,” first in Albion College’s 2018-19 theatre season. he play runs September 21–22 and 26–29 at 8 p.m. each night, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on September 22 and on Sunday, September 23.
“Topdog/Underdog” is a darkly comic fable of brotherly love, family identity, and the black experience in America. Lincoln and Booth are two brothers whose names were given to them as a joke, foretelling a lifetime of sibling rivalry and resentment. The play opened off-Broadway in 2001 and won both a Pulitzer Prize and the Outer Critics Circle Award before embarking on a successful Broadway run.
“Topdog/Underdog” contains strong language and may not be suitable for all audiences. Tickets are $5 general admission. For more information, contact the Albion College Theatre Department at 517/629-0344 or theatre@albion.edu.
