Description: Albion College sociology
professor Scott Melzer
presents his new book
“Manhood Impossible: Men’s
Struggles to Control and
Transform Their Bodies and
Work” on Thursday September
27 at 4:30 p.m. in the
College’s Stockwell Library
Wendell Will Room.

Melzer’s book aims to answer
the question: What do men do
when they fall short –
either physically or
economically – of American
manhood expectations?

Melzer joined Albion’s
faculty in 2004. His
teaching and research
interests are in gender,
social psychology, and
criminology, with particular
interests in intimate
violence, men and
masculinities, gun politics,
and social change. Since the
publication of his first
book “Gun Crusaders: The
NRA's Culture War,” Melzer
has regularly served as a
media expert on news related
to the National Rifle
Association.

This event is free and open
