12 Free Art Classes slated for September 10th
The Albion City Recreation Department in conjunction with Schuler Arts Creativity Retreat Center is offering 12 free art classes on Saturday, September 10th, four classes at 10 AM, 2 PM and 6 PM. These two-hour classes are part of a county-wide Art Connect Project involving several locally recognized artists and arts facilities. The project is funded through a grant from the Battle Creek Community Foundation and will culminate with a display in January at the Art Center of Battle Creek.
The September series of free art classes include:
Play with Clay: Nobel Schuler's "Play with Clay" series will introduce participants to the basic skills of working with clay using hand-building techniques and the potter's wheel. (3 separate classes, one at 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM)
Glass Fusing: Bobbie Van Eck's "Glass Fusing" series will explore the art of fusing glass, how to design, cut, nip and join glass elements together to create a beautiful jewelry pendant or unique ornament. (3 separate classes, one at 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM)
Basics of Drawing: Jerome Washington's "Basics of Drawing" classes will explore shape, form, and shadow and the fundamental elements of drawing and design. (3 separate classes, one at 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM)
Sculpture and the Art of Creative Thinking: In Sabine LeDieu’s sculpture class each student will create a unique sculpture using a variety of commonly found objects. (3 separate classes, one at 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM)
